What insurers actually need from us
A dated photo report showing damage, an itemised quote split into make-safe and permanent repair, and a written note on whether damage is consistent with storm event (vs pre-existing wear). We do this as standard.

Some 'storm damage' is genuinely a worn-out roof that finally let go. We'll tell you both honestly — the insurer will work it out anyway, and exaggerated claims usually fail.

Usually yes — we make safe, photograph properly, then you've got evidence. Insurers prefer documented damage to descriptions.
What does an insurer actually pay for?+
Make-safe, like-for-like repair, and reasonable scaffold. Upgrades (e.g. tile to slate) come out of your pocket.
