Moss on Roof — Removal & Treatment
Thick moss holds water against tiles, blocks gutters and gradually erodes the surface. We remove it properly — soft brush from scaffold, then a biocide wash — never high-pressure jets.

Why high-pressure jet washing wrecks tiles
Pressure washers strip the surface coating off concrete tiles and force water under the laps. The tiles look clean for a season then absorb water like a sponge — we've reroofed several houses early because of a previous jet-wash 'clean'. Soft brushing and biocide is the only correct method.
How long before moss comes back
After a proper biocide treatment, expect 3–5 clear years on a south-facing roof and 2–3 on a damp north-facing one. We can revisit on a maintenance basis rather than letting it build up again.
FAQs
Does moss actually damage the roof?+
Yes — it holds water against the tile (accelerating frost damage), washes grit into gutters, and on slate roofs the roots lift tail edges.
Can I just spray biocide myself?+
You can, but without removing the bulk moss first it's mostly wasted product. Brush down, clear gutters, then treat — in that order.
